McGraw accepted to training program

Meghan Abigail McGraw, Northampton Area High School Class of 2018 valedictorian, has been accepted to the University of Utah’s MD/Ph.D. medical scientist training program for 2024. She has a fully-funded fellowship from the National Institutes of Health.

McGraw is a 2022 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she received both departmental and university honors and dual degrees in both biomedical and chemical engineering.

She is a published scientist and won the 10th annual International Rehabilitation Symposium’s poster contest this year.

McGraw is a licensed paramedic in Pennsylvania. Currently, she works in the laboratory at the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at University of Pittsburgh, under the direction of Emrita Sahu, Ph.D., and as a paramedic at Foxwall EMS and Eastern Area Paramedic Service in Pittsburgh.

McGraw will be pursuing her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and her MD degree. Her research interests are in neuroscience and cardiology and medical interests in cardiology and emergency medicine.

Albright College

Rodgers, Bortz graduate

Cameron P. Rodgers, of Northampton and a graduate of Northampton Area High School, and Connor Bortz, of Whitehall and a graduate of Whitehall High School, earned degrees May 12 at Albright College’s 164th commencement ceremony at Santander Arena. Rodgers earned a Master of Science degree in business, summa cum laude, and Bortz earned a Master of Science degree in athletic leadership, magna cum laude.

Ceremony speakers included award-winning theater, television and film actress Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Albright Class of 1992, and graduating senior Taisha N. Charles, Class of 2024. Olivia T. Holeva, Class of ‘24, also represented her class as a senior performer.

University of Cumberlands

Ciulla named to president’s list

In recognition of academic performance, the office of academic affairs at University of the Cumberlands has announced AnnMarie Ciulla, of Whitehall, was named to the president’s list for the spring 2024 semester. To be eligible for this honor, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (a full course load), maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0 for the semester, receive an “A” grade in UC Engage and be in good academic standing. (Note: All students who are named to the president’s list automatically make the dean’s list, since the dean’s list requires a minimum semester GPA of 3.5; however, Cumberlands only lists students on either the dean’s or president’s list to avoid overlap.)

Southern New Hampshire University

Students named to president’s list

It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following students on being named to the winter 2024 president’s list. The winter terms run January-May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to this honor. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired eight-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring and summer.
