Allen/East Allen townships: Kreidersville Covered Bridge Festival scheduled for June 1, 2

The Kreidersville Covered Bridge Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 1 and 2. Help support the last remaining covered bridge in Northampton County.

Musical entertainment will include Big Valley Bluegrass from noon to 3 p.m. and James Supra Band 4-7 p.m. Other activities include craft beer tastings with Lehigh Valley Homebrewers, a Lehigh County 4-H historical presentation by Larry Oberly, Civil War reenacting, hay wagon rides and a basket raffle. There will also be homemade food with an old-fashioned pig roast.

Volunteers are needed to help serve food and assist with the basket raffle. Available shifts include 11 a.m.-1 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m. and then 4-7 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Mary Austin or Amy Hower at kcba1839@gmail.com.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville, is holding a cash bingo June 2. Doors open noon.

Tickets are discounted if purchased in advance. Reserve your seat by calling 484-241-1370.

Looking ahead, there is another cash bingo scheduled for Sept. 8.

Zion’s Stone United Church of Christ, 51 Church Road, is holding an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8-11 a.m. June 8. The menu will include scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, ham, creamed chipped beef, pancakes, toast, baked goods and drinks.

There is a cost.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be hosting its first seniors prom June 8. Doors open 3:30 p.m. and dinner will be 4 p.m., followed by dancing.

This is a free event for guests of all ages.

Wildlands Conservancy will hold its 28th annual Lehigh River Sojourn June 8-11. This guided paddling trip on the Lehigh River is a family-friendly rafting adventure through the Lehigh Gorge in the Poconos, along with a canoeing or kayaking experience through the metro-wilderness reaches of the river.

It’s time to sign up for East Allen Township Parks and Recreation’s summer camp program. Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from June 17 to Aug. 2 for children ages 6-12.

The Allen Township summer movie lineup is here. The first movie of the season will be “The Sandlot” June 29 at Howertown Park.

All movies are family events with free admission. There will also be a Touch A Truck on site for kids of all ages. The township is offering free popcorn and water. Bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets.

Donations are greatly appreciated, so the township can hold future movie events.

The Celtic Cultural Alliance announced several thousand dollars will be awarded in scholarships to students studying a Celtic art such as music, dance, visual arts, literature or history. The application deadline is July 15.

Awards will be presented at Celtic Classic, set for Sept. 29. Executive Director Jayne Ann Recker said these scholarships support the mission of the CCA to promote and preserve Celtic culture by encouraging students to study a Celtic discipline. The scholarship is not based on an audition or financial need.

The ninth annual Northampton Area School District Student Council car show is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 27 at Bicentennial Park West, 5351 Park West Lane, East Allen Township. All proceeds will benefit the Student Council. The rain date is July 28.

All makes, models and years of cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors are welcome. There will be dash plaques for the first 100 preregistered cars. There is a discount for registering in advance.

Registration will be held 9 a.m.-noon, and awards start 3 p.m. There will be 35 awards.

The event will also include door prizes, a tricky tray, food, deejay and a craft and flea market.
