Saucon Valley HS presented “Oklahoma!” April 18 to 21. The musical was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and is based on Lynn Rigg’s 1931 play called “Green Grow the Lilacs.” The play is set in farmland near the town of Claremore. Oklahoma. The story involves a farm girl and two dueling rivals looking to gain her affection. Saucon’s Valley’s adaptation of “Oklahoma!” was directed by Lex Donatelli along with Assistant Directors Kendra Schessler and Calista Cavanaugh.
Jud Fry, (John Murphy), in a scene inside a smokehouse. The character Jud eventually dies by falling on his own knife.
Ali Hakim, (Luke McGloughlin), is sharp witted businessman and player who wanders into town.
Laurey Williams (Ayla Skubera,) and Curly McLain (Ryan Pakzad). Curly fights with Jud Fry to gain the affection of Laurey. In the end Laurey ends up choosing Curly.
Left is Ado Annie Carnes (Madeline Janis), in a scene with Ali Hakim (Luke McGloughlin). Ali is pushed into marrying Ado Annie and looks to find a way to get out of it.
