Robert David Smith, 77, died May 6, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Born in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of Robert and Helen Smith.
Known affectionately as Bob, he cherished his childhood and educational years.
He attended the University of Detroit, where he played basketball, and then went to Eastern Michigan University, where he completed his degree and met his beloved wife, Mary.
After earning his Master’s degree in special education, his professional journey in leadership roles at Youthville in Newton, Kan., and Kids Peace in Pennsylvania, demonstrated his heartfelt dedication to enhance children’s lives.
Alongside his daughter and wife, he also started and built a family business, owning and operating four local Subway restaurants for two decades.
A man of warmth and generosity, he was known for his compassion and kindness.
His hobbies included fishing and boating, passions he shared with family and friends.
He cherished traveling with his family and looked forward to poker games, and friendly blackjack tournaments with his daughters.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by daughters Michelle Sitoski and spouse, Mike, Tanya Engler and spouse, Doug, Nichole Choi and spouse, Andy; and cherished grandchildren Katey, Mackenzie, Isaac, Malia, Alana, Jaxon and Nikolas.
