Laky named head coach for SHS girls basketball

Salisbury High School recently announced that Jason Laky will be the school’s new head varsity girls basketball coach.

Laky is a Salisbury High School Class of 1992 graduate, who has spent the last four years coaching the school’s junior high boys basketball team and is currently the school’s junior varsity baseball coach.

“I am thrilled to accept the new head coaching position, and I am eager to collaborate with all of the players and their families,” Laky said in a press release sent out by the school’s Director of Student Activities Monica Deeb. “As an alum of Salisbury, I am honored to continue my coaching career at my alma mater. With a track record of success both as a player and a coach, I can’t wait to meet the team and get things started.”

When not working as a Salisbury Township police officer, coaching or spending time with his family, Laky provides basketball and baseball commentary for The Eastern PA Sports Network. He played both sports plus ran cross country during his very accomplished high school career.

“I am really excited that Jason Laky is going to be leading our girls basketball program,” Deeb said. “He knows basketball, teaches it well and will do whatever is necessary for the program to be successful.”

Laky replaces Paul Ziegenfus, who resigned in February after two seasons.
