Joseph A. Slapinsky Sr., 84, residing at The Terrace at Phoebe, Allentown, formerly of Bethlehem, died May 8, 2024, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
He can his wife, Yvonne M. (Kavas) Slapinsky, were married 63 years.
Born July 9, 1939, in Hazleton, Luzerne County, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Jubay) Slapinsky.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A high voltage industrial electrician at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 34 years before retiring, he then became a consultant, private contractor at Exelon Corporation for two years.
He was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, Allentown.
A two-term past president of the former Northwest Lions Club, Bethlehem, he enjoyed golfing, kayaking and traveling with his wife.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Yvette M. Stine (Michael) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Gina M. Savant (Lou) of Easton, and Joseph A. Slapinsky Jr. of Genesee; siblings Eleanor Kitzhoffer of Keansburg, N.J., Jean Mahoney of Torrington, Conn., and Thomas Slapinsky (Eileen) of Bethlehem; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be 2 p.m. May 18 at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
Family and friends may pay their respects 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private interment with military honors will be at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
