Hornet boys lax beats BC, Nazareth

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team won both of its games played in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference last week, remaining one of just two teams unbeaten in conference action so far.

The Hornets got the better of Bethlehem Catholic 19-1 last Tuesday and then defeated Nazareth two days later 12-3. They are now 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference, joining Parkland as the only two undefeated teams in the EPC. They have won 10 games in a row.

In the win over the Golden Hawks, Liam Rooney and Kaleb Mains both found the back of the net four times and combined for three assists. Will Barber tallied three goals and five assists. Marcus Puentes scored two goals and assisted on one. Jewlien Torres, Gabe Chies, James Schauer, Aiden Issler, Ben Anders and Max Lipski all scored a goal with Chies contributing two assists. Erick Wentz and Logan Schissler each added an assist. Sam Rainford finished with one save in goal.

In the victory against the Blue Eagles, Emmaus jumped out to a 6-2 lead at halftime and then outscored Nazareth 6-1 in the second half to win the game. Rooney and Barber both recorded four goals and combined for four assists to lead the attack. Mains finished with three goals and an assist. Puentes found the back of the net once. Rainford made 19 saves.

Emmaus concludes the regular season with three games this week, two of which are in conference. The Hornets hosted Northampton this past Monday and are at rival Parkland on Wednesday before welcoming Wyoming Seminary College Prep on Friday evening in the season finale.
