The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team finished the regular season last week with its 13th straight win to lock up the top spot in the East Penn Conference playoffs, which begin this week.
The Hornets beat Wyoming Seminary in their regular season finale Friday to finish 17-1 overall.
Liam Rooney and Will Barber scored five goals each in the win, while Jahkari Christian added two and six Emmaus players scored once in the game.
Barber also assisted on five goals, while Michael Chies had four helpers. Hornet goal keeper Sam Rainford made nine saves to get the win, while Jack Sullivan made two saves for Emmaus.
The Hornets secured the top seed in the EPC playoffs with an 11-5 win over Parkland last week to finish 9-0 in league play and earn the No. 1 seed for the four-team conference playoffs.
Barber scored four goals and assisted on three against Parkland, while Rooney added three goals and one assist. Marcus Puentes scored two goals for the Hornets. Rainford made eight saves in the game.
Emmaus rolled to a 14-2 win over Northampton last Monday, April 29.
Rooney scored six goals against the Konkrete Kids, while Barber scored five times and assisted on six other goals. Jewlien Torres score one goal and assisted on two against Northampton.
Rainford was called on to make just six saves before giving way to Logan Schissler, who stopped two shots.
The EPC playoffs are scheduled to begin Wednesday at Northampton High School. The Hornets will take on Central Catholic (10-5 overall; 5-4 EPC) in the semifinals with hopes of taking on either No. 2 seed Parkland (13-5; 8-1) or No. 3 Easton (13-4; 7-2) in the finals, which are scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at Northampton as part of a boys-girls league title doubleheader.
