The Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group will hold its next monthly meeting 10 a.m.-noon May 18.
Author and publisher Angel Ackerman will present Blogging and the Socials 11 a.m.-noon. Ackerman will give an overview of different ways to share your life online - such as an author’s brand. In this hour, the group will discuss various ways to distribute messaging online with the long-term goal of developing a platform and a brand as well as practice speaking to your ideal client.
Registration is recommended but not required. There is no fee.
Ackerman will then lead a workshop focused on Leveraging Your Blog and Social Media 1-3 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their laptops for hands-on work.
Look at the WordPress interface, develop content management plans and do some content creation for whatever platforms participants wish to work on, including X (Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook.
Get started on using social media and blogging as a public relations powerhouse. Consider your life and goals and how these items can work together to leverage your author message. Then, during the summer, collect content.
Attendees will be using what they created and learned to dip into newsletters with Substack in a workshop tentatively scheduled for September.
This workshop is free for members and $15 for nonmembers. All attendees must be 18 years or older.
The meeting is offered in a hybrid format, either in person at the Palmer branch of Easton Public Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer, or online via Zoom. Email glvwg.vebmeister@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link.
