District News: Zephyr Elementary School book fair continues through May 17

The book fair at Zephyr Elementary School will continue through May 17. PTO PLUS plans to bring loads of learning materials, books and toys.

Reminder: Zephyr Elementary will be holding its open house 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 15. There will be a basket raffle, spirit sale, book fair and science fair.

Mark your calendar: Zephyr’s fifth-grade elementary band and chorus spring concert will be 7 p.m. May 16 in the auditorium at Whitehall High School.

Come out to the WHS Powder Puff game, set for 6 p.m. May 16 to watch the upperclassmen take on the underclassmen in a game of flag football. Entry into the game is free.

In the case of bad weather, the game will be held May 17.

The Class of 2026 will be holding a car wash 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 19 at Schadt Avenue Park. The cost will benefit the class.

The Steckelwood Stars concert, featuring second- and third-grade students, will be held May 21. Due to the overwhelming audience support, there will be two concerts that evening. First will be second-graders, beginning 6:15 p.m. Students are to arrive by 6 p.m. Parents and students are requested to leave the auditorium quickly, so the next concert for third-graders can be performed.

The third-grader portion of the concert begins 7:30 p.m., and students are asked to arrive by 7:15 p.m.

The two concerts will be held in the WHS auditorium. Each concert is 30 minutes in length. Families who have students in both grades are able to stay.

Fifth-grade families, be sure to come to Whitehall-Coplay Middle School 5:30-6:30 p.m. May 22 for orientation night. Expect to learn about the expectations and culture of the middle school in an informational meeting with Principal Dr. Holub and sixth-grade counselor Mrs. Galucy.

WHS juniors, are you interested in taking a college course at Lehigh University during the fall 2024 semester? Lehigh University’s high school scholars program application process is open.

The deadline to apply, including all supplemental materials, is May 24. See your counselor now for more details.

This summer, Whitehall Township Public Library will have its summer reading program June 15-Aug. 3. The kickoff will begin 1 p.m. June 15 with live animals.

All summer, there will be various activities, events and programs, including Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs, Glow in the Dark Binglow, Super Science and Amazing Art, steel drums, camp knots, Kids & Teens Connect, community heroes and more.

Registration for the second annual Mia Due Memorial Fund Golf Tournament is now open. The event will be held Aug. 3 at The Club at Twin Lakes, 3625 Shankweiler Road, Allentown.

Whitehall-Coplay School District’s counseling department welcomes students, parents, faculty, staff and the community at large to access services they provide.

They coordinate programs of specialized services to students and families in the following areas: academic, career and social emotional developmental services.

These services contribute to the effectiveness of the overall educational process for our students.
