May 15

The Emmaus Historical Society’s monthly program will be held 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Emmaus. The program is titled: “Kids’ TV Shows We Watched on Channel 3, 6 and 10 in the 1950s.” Bill Barto will present a nostalgic photo slideshow program covering 20 selected kids’ shows popular in the early years of television. There will be plenty of human interest stories about the shows and the people who entertained us. The program is free to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program.

May 16

The Macungie Farmers Market opens for the season 4-7 p.m. The market is located along Lumber Street, just off Main Street, in Macungie borough.

May 18

The Macungie Band will present a variety of music for a spring afternoon at the Phoebe Home Allentown, 1925 W. Turner St., Allentown, 3 p.m. Weather permitting, the concert will be held at the band shell on West Turner Street between 19th and 20th streets. Selections will include songs from the musical “My Fair Lady,” a tribute to trumpeter Louis Armstrong and music by Stevie Wonder, Florence Price and John Philip Sousa.

May 22

The Friends of the Southern Lehigh Library will host the presentation “Gardening for Birds and Butterflies” 7 p.m. at the library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley. Led by Barbara Malt of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society, the presentation will offer attendees insight into how to attract more birds and butterflies by creating a healthy backyard habitat. May 26

The Emmaus Veterans Honor Guard will pay their respects to veterans in all cemeteries in the borough, visiting Calvary, Old Moravian, Moravian, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and Evangelical cemeteries, reading a short prayer, offering a rifle salute and playing taps at each location. The observance will begin 8 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery.

Country band SteelCreek opens the 2024 Emmaus Summer Entertainment Series at Emmaus Community Park 6-8 p.m. Admission is free.

May 27

Macungie Memorial VFW Post 9264 and Auxiliary will host the Macungie Memorial Day Observance, starting with a flag raising 10 a.m. immediately followed by the Macungie Memorial Day program 10:30 a.m. A memorial service, “All Gave Some – Some Gave All,” will be held noon at the Macungie Veterans Association, 287 Lehigh St. In the event of rain, services will be held in Macungie Memorial Park auditorium 10:30 a.m. For details, visit the website www.macungie.org or call or text 610-965-0372.

Emmaus borough will host its annual Memorial Day Parade starting 9:30 a.m.

June 2

Kiwanis Club of Emmaus’ 49th annual Pancake and Sausage Festival 8 a.m. to noon at Emmaus Fire Co. #1, Sixth and Broad streets, Emmaus. Event includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, raffles, music and mascots. Children 8 years old and younger enjoy breakfast for free. For tickets, visit www.emmauskiwanis.org.

The Emmaus Rotary Club will hold a cornhole tournament 1-5 p.m. at McCall Taphouse, 7743 Hamilton Blvd., Breinigsvile. Event includes all you can eat and drink. Teams interested in showcasing their cornhole skills may register at https://cornhole.emmausrotary.org.

June 8

The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club will hold a clothing drive 9 a.m. to noon at the Salisbury High School auxiliary gym entrance.

June 20

The Friends of the 1803 House will host a fundraiser 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Stone Farm Cellars & Vineyard, 5831 Vera Cruz Road, Center Valley. There is a cost for tickets. Highlights include a lottery ticket wreath, a 50/50 raffle and performances by musician Hannah Violet. For tickets, call 484-264-8645. Tickets also will be sold at the door.

June 22

Upper Milford Western District Fire Company will host its “Kauffman’s” chicken barbecue takeout 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out. Dinner includes half a chicken, baked potato, applesauce and dinner roll and will be available for pickup at the rear of the fire house, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville. There is a charge for tickets. Old Zionsville United Church of Christ will host the annual Dillingersville School House service 10:30 a.m. at the school house, 7226 School House Lane, Lower Milford Township. The Heidelberg Brass Band will present a polka service.
