Increased social media visibility sought

The Salisbury Township Environmental Advisory Council is discussing increasing its presence on social media.

Michele Lopez, Salisbury Township code-rental inspector, assistant zoning officer, said she would look into what might be required to do so.

A social media plan was on the agenda of the EAC April 17 meeting, attended by two of five EAC members.

“The goal of the plan is simple: to ignite an interest in the environment,” EAC member Thomas McCabe said in his presentation.

Other aspects enumerated by McCabe for EAC social media would be to highlight resources, highlight interests and showcase the community.

“It [an EAC website] would be run through the Salisbury Township [website],” Lopez said.

“I would help with content creation,” McCabe said.

Because of a lack of quorum, no official action was taken at the meeting.

Also, discussion was postponed concerning the Chestnut Tree Planting Project placement, which was also on the agenda.

A presentation by a Master Gardener from Penn State Extension is planned for the June EAC meeting.

“We want to open it [the meeting] up to the public,” Lopez said.

The EAC is next scheduled to meet 7 p.m. June 19 in meeting room of the Salisbury Township municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.

The EAC meets every other month.

Photos of the tree-planting event, sponsored by the EAC in honor of Earth Day and held April 13 and 14 in Lindberg, Devonshire and Franko Farm parks, are on the township website: https://salisburylehighpa.gov/township-government/boards/environmental-advisory-council/2024-tree-planting-event/.

The Salisbury Township meeting schedule in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave., includes: 7 p.m. May 9, board of commissioners and 7 p.m. May 23, board of commissioners.

The May 8 zoning hearing board meeting is canceled.

The May 22 planning commission meeting is canceled.
