Borough, Chamber hold food festival

The Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Catasauqua Borough to hold its annual food festival April 27. Previously known as the Catty StrEAT Fest, Catty EATS Fest was held at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.

The weather was less than cooperative, as the day did not warm up as expected and a bit of a breeze swirled around the park. Nonetheless, attendees seemed to enjoy the wide array of food and dessert choices.

Kylie Adams-Weiss and Elyse Cuttic, from the Chamber, helped to coordinate the event.

CeCe’s Freshly Squeezed Lemonade, operated by CeCe Gerlach of Allentown, offered freshly squeezed lemonade. The ever-smiling Gerlach noted she books birthday parties, corporate events, private events, block parties, fairs and festivals and more. She can be reached at ceceslemonade.com or 484-597-0354 to book her services.

For a more adult beverage, Easton Wine Project, established 2017, offered dry red and white wine and wine coolers. The winery is located in the historic Simon Silk Mill, 1247 Simon Blvd., Suite N103, Easton. Visit eastonwineproject.com to review all the wines and other beverages they offer.

Other stout adult beverages for sale were craft beers brewed at the Taylor House Brewing Company, 76 Lehigh St., Catasauqua. The brewery is across the street from the historic George Taylor House. George Taylor was an original signer of the Declaration of Independence. Visit taylorhousebrewing.com for information about the latest brews from the brewmeister or visit them in their comfortable tasting lounge.

Grubnight Food Truck, from Allentown, offered a nice selection of foods, including burgers, tacos, pulled pork and sausage sandwiches, a variety of desserts and refreshments. Visit grubnightfoodtruck.net or call 484-828-3773 for information on renting the truck or to find out the festivals they plan to attend.

Get It From My Granny, a Catasauqua business, offered nonedible plants for sale for indoor plant aficionados. Owner and Catasauqua resident Kawaunna Waldron can be followed on Facebook at her Getitfromgranny page or email getitfromgranny@gmail.com.

The Mamma and Gentile families, both from Catasauqua, enjoyed examining the plants offered by Waldron before they headed to the numerous food trucks to select a tasty lunch.

Mattie’s Strudel Haus, 126 W. Main St., Bath, is a specialty shop that sells delicious, authentic Hungarian stretched strudels. Owner Kelly Vlasics was on hand making and serving strudels. She noted the most popular item is her cheesesteak strudel. Visit mattiesstrudelhaus.com to see the strudel selection and visit the shop or order online.

AK Farms, of 5334 Snyders Church Road, Northampton, offered pork products for sale. Visit the AKFarms Facebook page, visit the butcher shop or call them at 610-248-0396 for quality pork products.

Catty EATS Fest attendees strolled around the event as they made difficult culinary decisions based on the wide selection of foods. Many people headed toward the well-maintained park pavilions to eat. The Catty EATS Fest, despite the weather, was a family-oriented, friendly success.
