Tech troubles zap zoom meeting
Undaunted, Chairperson Janine Santoro dealt with an accidental double-booking for their usual meeting room at the NCC Fowler Center, as well as technical issues getting the April 30 South Side Task Force hybrid meeting online.
Despite the challenges, Santoro and a handful of other attendees were able to share community updates with each other.
She announced Bethlehem’s Climate Challenge is still live at WeBuild.Bethlehem-PA.gov and Mayor William Reynolds’ State of the City address can be viewed online.
The Opening Doors Steering Committee is to address affordable housing May 15 at 6:30 p.m. in room 605 at the NCC Fowler Center.
Among upcoming entertainment events are HCLV’s Fiesta Dominican Republic at 5 p.m. May 17 at Wind Creek’s Foundry Ballroom and the Hispanic Heritage Celebration scheduled for Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at PNC Plaza.
Katy Wirth from Southside Arts District mentioned Live on the Greenway will feature musical performances at Harmony Pavilion. The Sunday Concert Series runs noon to 3 p.m. May 19 and 26, and June 2 and 9 near Webster and Taylor streets along the South Bethlehem Greenway.
Adrienne McNeil from Lehigh University attended briefly online. With audio not working, she texted in her updates on the Bethlehem Farmers’ Market and the Great South Side Sale.
Fresh produce and goods can be purchased at the Bethlehem Farmers’ Market at Farrington Square on Thursdays from 11 a.m. through Nov. 14. Live music will be provided.
The Great South Side Sale is being held June 1 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the Broughal MS field. Donated items for the annual sale are being collected at various campus sites until May 30. Proceeds benefit South Bethlehem children’s programming and homework clubs. For information: inmove@lehigh.edu.
Community Action Development Bethlehem (CADB) is sponsoring another Southside Cleanup scheduled for May 11 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Lynfield Community Center.
Santoro said there are some employment and volunteer opportunities available at the city and some community partners.
The Bethlehem Police Department continues with recruitment and there are still open positions at City Hall.
Turning Point of Lehigh Valley is seeking applicants for several advocacy positions.
Santoro mentioned there are open seats waiting to be filled on several authorities, boards and commissions.
The Mayor’s South Side Task Force regularly meets on the last Tuesday of the month.
