BETHLEHEM FINE ARTS COMMISSION JURIED ART SHOW: local and regional artists and craft artisans. Judging will take place on May 11 by the show judge, artist and gallery owner Ward VanHaute. Prizes are awarded for the Best of Show, Second Prize, Third Prize and Best Display. They are awarded at a reception during that evening’s judging.
Families and children of all ages are invited to participate in the Children’s Art Activities, such as interactive art projects and or creating handmade gifts or cards for mom. and enjoy local musicians performing along the show route. An event for the entire family, free to attend for all ages!

MONTHLY VETERANS SUPPORT PROGRAM, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Usually third Monday of the month. Rep. Jeanne McNeil’s district office, 1080 Schadt Ave., Whitehall. A representative from the American Legion will be available for pre-scheduled appointments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service officer assists veterans and their families regarding pensions and other compensation, education, health care and death benefits and the services available to them. DOLLHOUSE SHOW: The 45th annual Dollhouse and Miniatures Show and Sale, sponsored by the Small on Scale Miniatures Club, Lehigh Valley Chapter, will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14 at The Delta By Marriott Hotel, 7736 Adrienne Drive, Breinigsville.
Free children’s class, exhibits, free parking and food will be available.
There is a small fee for adults and children to enter.
All show proceeds benefit charities and educational endeavors.

FREE FAMILY FILMS: Bring blankets and lawn chairs to Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks Wednesdays beginning May 22 to sit on as you enjoy free family movies under the stars. Free parking is available at the parking lots on First Street immediately adjacent to SteelStacks; food and beverages will be available at the Mack Truck Stop at the Levitt Pavilion, as well as the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, located across the street from the Levitt Pavilion. All films presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network are part of the Free Family Movie Series on the lawn and will be screened at 6:30 p.m.
SENSORY FRIENDLY: ArtsQuest’s Sensory Friendly Family Film Series is located at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema at SteelStacks. The program is specifically designed for children and adults living with autism and allows everyone to experience the joy of seeing their favorite movies on the big screen. As part of the film screenings, talking and walking are permitted, and stimming (self-regulation behavior) is encouraged. The theater’s house lights are dimmed but remain on, while the film volume is lowered and previews are eliminated, all in an effort to provide a comfortable viewing experience for attendees. Additionally, families with special dietary needs are allowed to bring food from home. All films that are a part of the Sensory Friendly Family Film Series and will be screened Wednesdays beginning May 22 at 1:30 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMUNITY CONCERTS - Free, open to the public, noon to 3 p.m. May 16 and 26 at Harmony Pavilion, along the Webster and Taylor block of the South Bethlehem Greenway. There will be food and beverages available to purchase from local brewers and businesses. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or beach towel for seating, sunglasses and sunscreen for a comfortable viewing experience. Live on the Greenway is brought to you in partnership with the City of Bethlehem and Southside Arts District, a nonprofit program of the Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation. May 20: Dr. John Kincaid was part of the defense team for Daniel Ellsberg at “The Pentagon Papers Trial.” He will share the inside details of what it was like to work with Ellsberg, Tom Hayden, Jane Fonda and other peace activists in the early 1970s.

HOMETOWN HEROES: May 24 to 27. Join Embassy Bank in honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in a community celebration. The commemorative event features the Hometown Heroes 2024 photo-banner, live music and remembrance ceremonies including “A Time to Remember,” and “Remember Our Heroes” luminary display honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
From May 25-July 14 the campus will be draped with images of local military heroes as a display of the appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions. The banners will display photos of the soldiers, their rank, branch of service, era of service and hometown.
The first 200 photos received March 1 through March 31 were accepted for the 2024 display. They will join photos submitted from 2011-2023 on this year’s banners. Additional details on the 2024 Memorial Day events and activities are located by visiting steelstacks.org/memorial-day/
