EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. I live with my parents, Janine and John Gilboy, my brother Nic and my dog Dawkins.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subjects are those that fall under social studies, especially psychology and world studies. I love learning about the past and how it affects the present as well as how cognition influences people and their behaviors.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I am a member of National Honor Society and have received honors and high honors every marking period. I have received several athletic awards for the different EHS sports teams I have been involved in including MVP, Most Improved, Players’ Player and Coaches Choice, I was also captain of the diving team and co-captain of the tennis team my senior year.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am on the EHS tennis, dive and track teams. My involvement in these activities had a major positive impact on my high school experience. I have gained skills like time management, cooperation and leadership as well as lifelong friends and mentors through athletics.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. A big challenge for me was giving up gymnastics due to injury after eight years of competing. I ended up leaving behind a lot of friends and teammates as well as years of hard work and dedication. However, this created the opportunity for me to participate in other new experiences, leading me to some of my favorite activities and people.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I plan to attend college and graduate in four years with a degree in secondary education.
Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?
A. I hope to emulate my mom, who I continuously look to for guidance. I admire her kindness and attitude toward life and hope to one day mirror her composure and demeanor.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I hope to be remembered as a kind and hardworking individual.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Take a deep breath and try your best.
