Anytime you can win five straight games in the East Penn Conference you’re doing something right.
Freedom enjoyed that feat recently with a run of dominant wins over East Stroudsburg North, Easton, Central Catholic, Stroudsburg and Dieruff.
The Pates handled those teams by outscoring them 63-6 in that span.
And then on Saturday, the Pates got a taste of their own medicine, getting dropped by Northampton 10-1 on their own Senior Day to snap their win streak and put them at 8-5 heading into a new week on the EPC calendar.
“We did great winning five in a row,” said head coach John Bisco. “We get to see Northampton again in a league game later in the season and will play better. It was just one of those days. We should have played better but we didn’t.”
Despite the loss, Freedom is in prime position to clinch a district berth with over two weeks left on the schedule, as they just need one league win to solidify a postseason ticket.
That task will be tough this week, as they have a slate of games against Nazareth (7-3), Easton (5-4) and Parkland (9-2) this week
“Nazareth we had a wacky early season game,” said Bisco of their 17-10 loss to the Blue Eagles in March. Hope to even the series out. Easton is playing better and always play us tough and then Parkland is a solid program and would be a nice win for us.”
