The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team has been looking to be more consistent as the midway point in the 2024 regular season approaches.
While the Trojans have been unbeaten in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference to date, they have come out on the wrong end of things in some nonconference games.
Those same things happened last week as Parkland won its conference game against Pleasant Valley, 20-4, last Thursday night, but fell 18-6 to Pennridge in a nonleague game on Saturday afternoon.
In the win over the Bears, Parkland took a 5-2 lead early on and then outscored them 6-1 in the second quarter to lead 11-3 at halftime. The Trojans shut them out in the third and headed to the final quarter ahead 15-3.
Parker Kusko led the attack with five goals, including scoring his 100th career tally. Blake Finnegan recorded four goals and one assist. Jake Parker netted two goals and three assists. Matt Kelley notched two goals and one assist and Mazz Afif added two goals.
John Gerancher finished with a goal and two assists and Danny Tapia contributed one goal and one assist. Tyler Smith, Kale Kummernitsky and Christian Magloire rounded out the scoring with a goal each.
Against Pennridge, the Rams led 4-0 after the opening quarter and 8-1 at halftime, then took a double-digit lead in the third quarter.
Kusko had a team-high five goals and one assist. Gerancher recorded one goal and one assist. Both Parker and Jake Beidleman added an assist.
Through Monday, Parkland was 6-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference,. The Trojans host Northwestern Lehigh tonight and then welcome Wilson West Lawn to Parkland High School on Saturday afternoon, both nonconference games. The Trojans are then at Southern Lehigh on Monday night in another nonleague contest.
