Freedom is leading the pack in the city in both boys and girls lacrosse this season. The Patriot boys are 8-3 and have won five of their last six contests. Their only loss during that span came against Emmaus last Monday during a 12-11 encounter, but their five wins came by a combined 86-23 margin.
The Pates have three contests this week against Central Catholic, Northwestern and Central York, as the season winds down to the final days of the regular season next Wednesday.
With the EPC tournament on the horizon, Freedom is holding onto the fourth and final seed at the moment.
Freedom’s girls (7-4) were winners of six straight before hitting a bump in the road over the last week, losing two of three.
The losses came to league power Pleasant Valley last week 16-4 and then on Monday to Emmaus during a 15-2 defeat. Freedom looks to turn things around this week with games against Northwestern and Phillipsburg.
After a fast start to the season, Liberty’s boys have lost four straight games without much reprieve on the horizon. The Hurricanes (7-6) have a tough stretch to close out the season including contests against Nazareth and Parkland this week, as they battle toward trying to clinch a district playoff berth.
On the girls side, Liberty (4-8) has lost four straight, but have battled. Just like the boys, they have dates with the Blue Eagles and Trojans this week as well.
Bethlehem Catholic (1-8) picked up their first win of the season last week, as the boys knocked off Saucon Valley 9-4 in their highest scoring output of the season.
The Hawks close the season out with Emmaus and Pleasant Valley this week, along with next week’s season finale against Central Catholic.
