The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team had two nonconference games last week and the Hornets won one and lost one, sending their record to 4-5 overall and are 1-2 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Emmaus led from start to finish and took a large lead early and never looked back in taking down Saucon Valley 18-3 last Wednesday on the road. The Hornets then fell 9-6 at Crestwood on Friday afternoon.
In the victory over the Panthers, Emmaus scored seven goals in the first quarter and outscored them 4-1 in the second stanza to go on top 11-1 at halftime. The Hornets held a 7-2 scoring advantage in the second half and were never threatened the rest of the way.
There were 12 different players that found the back of the net, led by three goals from Olivia Schmidt. Jordyn Poll tallied two goals and two assists, while both Abby DiComes and Bri McClain had two goals and one assist. Brooke Peterson scored two goals.
Rylie Poll, Sarah Gross, Sofia Isaksson, Maddie Lenig, McKenna Guzik, Katie Gross and Sarah Palazzo all added one goal, with Isaksson contributing an assist. Alani Shotwell and Devin O’Neil split time in goal and each finished with two saves.
In the game against Crestwood, McClain recorded a hat trick. Poll scored a goal and added two assists, recording her 300th career draw control in the game. Sarah Gross and Melea Weber both tallied a goal and DiComes dished out two assists. Shotwell ended with 13 saves.
Emmaus has a mixture of conference and non-league games this week. The Hornets were at Moravian Academy Tuesday night and welcome Liberty to Memorial Field on Thursday night.
Emmaus is at Southern Lehigh on Saturday in the annual Cross Out Cancer charity game. They are then at Freedom next Monday afternoon.
