Sheckler Elementary School hosted its annual Literacy Night for students and families 6-8 p.m. March 7. Students were invited to spend the evening shopping around the Scholastic book fair, eating sweet treats from the fourth-grade Baking Club and participating in fun games and activities throughout the school.
The school followed along with Read Across America Week and themed the event as Roughie Readers Rock. Students came dressed up as their renditions of rock stars, while teachers and administrators also followed along with the fun theme.
Students were seen around the school playing bingo, participating in basket raffles and purchasing hot chocolate from the Catty Works table or popcorn from the Sheckler Home and School Association table.
In the cafeteria, students also had the opportunity to meet with various groups like the Public Library of Catasauqua. A sign language information table and a cartoon character drawing table were also placed in the cafeteria. The students, who had off from school the next day, were seen smiling, laughing and enjoying a great evening with friends, family members and school staff.
