Ernest T. Hughes Sr., 80, of Allentown, died April 11, 2024, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Elmer R. and Louisa M. (Link) Hughes.
A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.
He was a production manager for many years and last worked for the E.M.F. Corporation, Angola, Ind. until his retirement.
He was a member of Alburtis Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 217, Topton, Mercantile Club, Emmaus, and Junior Order of United American Mechanics Lodge 204, New Tripoli.
His survivors include daughters Lorie A. Hughes-Rehrig, and her husband, Troy D. Rehrig, of Kempton and Colleen L. Hughes-Behler and her husband, Lee W. Behler, of Germansville; son Ernest T. Hughes Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of New Tripoli; grandchildren Daniel, T. Christian, L. Caitlin, Elijah, Ainsley, Olivia, Elaina and Ernest T. III; great-grandchildren Eloise and Theodore; sister Emma Lee (Allen) Buck of Allentown; longtime companion Gail M. Kelly of Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be private interment at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall, at the convenience of the family.
