Gerald “Jerry” E. Snyder, 91, of Northampton and formerly of Catasauqua, died April 9, 2024, unexpectedly. He was the husband of Peggy A. (Capwell) Snyder for 41 years.

Born in North Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Stewart W. Sr. and Esther A. (Kline) Snyder.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed at Morris Black and Sons Inc., before retiring in 1996.

For 30 years, he was a member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 773, Allentown. He was a member and former president of Darktown Fire Company, Hokendauqua, and was a life member of Crosskeys Social Club, Allentown.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bath.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William M. Sr. and wife Sherry of Citrus Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Jody A. of Northampton; two grandchildren, William M. Jr. and wife Kimberly of Northampton and Christina Wellington of Beverly Hills, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Cole, Aden, Evan, Addyson, Sadey, Miley, Jaxon, Everly, Ethan and Aiden; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christy Snyder-Padula Smith; two brothers, Ronald and Stewart Jr.; and a sister, Joan “Tootie” Marth.

A memorial gathering will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 21 at the funeral home, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Bath.
