Ernest T. Hughes Sr., 80, of Allentown, died April 11, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Elmer R. and Louisa M. (Link) Hughes.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.

He was a production manager for many years and last worked for the E.M.F. Corporation in Angola, Ind. until retirement.

He was a member of the Alburtis Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 217 in Topton, Mercantile Club in Emmaus and the JROUAM Lodge 204 in New Tripoli.

He is survived by daughters, Lorie A. Rehrig, and her husband, Troy D., of Kempton, Colleen L. Behler, and her husband, Lee W., of Germansville; son, Ernest T. Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of New Tripoli; grandchildren, Daniel, T. Christian, L. Caitlin, Elijah, Ainsley, Olivia, Elaina, Ernest T. III; great-grandchildren, Eloise, Theodore; sister, Emma Lee (Allen) Buck, of Allentown; longtime companion, Gail M. Kelly, of Allentown; several nieces and nephews.

Private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to Nester Funeral Home, Inc., New Tripoli.
