Tiffany Benson, Coplay Borough secretary, read Michael “Mick” Dee’s letter of interest in filling the vacant position at council’s general meeting April 9. Councilman Mike Dreisbach’s anticipated resignation was announced at the April 2 workshop meeting.
Dee has expressed interest in being a part of council and presented his commitment to Whitehall Township. With more than a decade of experience, he has served his community by holding positions with the Whitehall board of commissioners, the traffic impact advisory committee and the Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission.
Council voted unanimously to accept Dreisbach’s resignation, effective April 30.
The remaining council members will discuss Dee’s interest and other possible candidates. If council is unable to come to a decision about a new appointee, Lehigh County will vote and appoint a member instead.
Another unanimous vote was cast to approve the amendments to the street ordinances code. This update officially introduces standard definitions and measurements for “block” and “half-block.” This update places liability on the permit holder to repave roads based on circumstantial disturbances done within the half-block and block spaces.
Council will convene for its workshop meeting May 7 and the regular business meeting May 14. Meetings start 7 p.m. at the borough building, 98 S. Fourth St.
