The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team won its first conference game of the 2024 regular season last week.
The Hornets defeated Central Catholic 13-8 last Tuesday, March 26, but then dropped nonconference game at Wilson West Lawn on Saturday afternoon, 14-9.
After dropping back-to-back games to Pleasant Valley and Easton in conference, Emmaus got back on track with a balanced offensive attack with seven different goal scorers finding the back of the net to get the better of the Vikettes.
Jordyn Poll paced the offense with four goals. Abby DiComes tallied a hat trick with three goals and two assists for a five-point game. Sarah Gross recorded two goals and an assist and each of Olivia Schmidt, Rylie Poll, Brooke Peterson and Taylor Younker found the back of the net once with Schmidt also dishing out an assist. Bri McClain added an assist and Alani Shotwell and Devin O’Neil split time in net with Shotwell making seven saves and O’Neil one.
In the game with the Bulldogs, Emmaus trailed by just 9-8 at halftime. In the second half, Wilson outscored the Hornets 5-1 and took the game.
McClain scored a team-high three goals for Emmaus. Schmidt finished with one goal and two assists and both DiComes and Jordyn Poll had one goal and one assist, while Rylie Poll, Gross and Peterson rounded out the scoring with a goal each. Shotwell finished with 18 saves.
Emmaus entered this week at 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the EPC. The Hornets are back in conference action to take on Freedom Wednesday before nonconference games against Northwestern on Friday and Kennett on Saturday morning.
