The 28th annual Lehigh River Sojourn, set for June 8-11, is Wildlands Conservancy’s guided paddling trip on the Lehigh River.
This is a family-friendly adventure of white-water rafting through the Lehigh Gorge in the Poconos, along with a canoeing or kayaking experience through the metro-wilderness reaches of the Lehigh River in the Lehigh Valley.
Each day meets at a different location.
Day 1: Meet at Pocono Whitewater, 1519 State Route 903, Jim Thorpe.
Day 2: Meet at the Walnutport Canal Association parking lot, 309 Lehigh St.
Day 3: Meet at Wayne A. Grube County Park, 1200 Willowbrook Road, Northampton.
Day 4: Meet at Hugh Moore Park, 2750 Hugh Moore Park Road, Easton.
Participants may choose to register for one, some or all of the four days.
Each day boasts a different get-outdoors experience on the water with unique views and experiences.
This year’s event includes educational programming each day regarding conservation and environmental education, camping at various parks and even special activities.
After the paddling adventure on day three, sojourners are invited to the joint celebration of Northampton County Parks and Recreation’s 50th anniversary and Lehigh Valley Greenway’s 25th anniversary.
The closing ceremony on day four includes the opportunity to explore the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor’s new National Canal Museum and meet Wildlands Conservancy’s animal ambassadors.
