Egypt/Cementon: Mike Sherer to perform April 11

Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, is planning a number of events.

Thursday entertainment starts with dinner 6 p.m. Music will begin 7 p.m. The music schedule will include Mike Sherer April 11 and Gig Diggers blues open jam April 18.

Other performances include Jimmy Leahey of Styx 6 p.m. April 12, Uncle Smiley duo 7 p.m. April 19, Stage Devils 7 p.m. April 20 and Stranger Behavior Band 2 p.m. April 21.

Members attend for free, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.

Additionally, the VFW is planning to hold a soup, stew and chowder contest set for 2 p.m. April 21 and a music bingo 7 p.m. April 24.

Alias Band will perform 7-11 p.m. April 12 at Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon. The kitchen will be open. There is a cost.

Egypt Community Church will host an eat-in or takeout ham dinner 4-6:30 p.m. April 13 in the social hall, 4128 Bridge St. The dinner consists of ham, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, bread with butter, dessert and a beverage.

All proceeds benefit church missions.

There will also be a potluck fellowship meal for church members after the April 21 service.

Angel Resource Ministries has scheduled a semiannual new children’s clothing sale for 4-6:30 p.m. April 13 and 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 14 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Egypt.

Laurel Fire Company will serve a breakfast 8-11 a.m. April 14. The buffet includes scrambled eggs, scrambled cheesy eggs with sausage, pork roll, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, cream chipped beef and biscuits, orange juice, apple juice, chocolate milk and coffee.

There is a cost.

Join your friends and neighbors for country line dancing 6-8 p.m. April 17 at Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane. There is a cost.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, will hold a penny party April 21. Doors open 11:30 a.m., and the games begin 12:30 p.m.

Attendees purchase an envelope of numbered paper squares. The squares are used to bid on low-priced items that are passed along the tables on trays. To bid on an item, place a numbered square in a cup on the tray and the cost of the item in the other cup. When the tray reaches the end of the tables, a number is drawn. The player whose number is called wins the item.

The group will offer many items for bid, as well as a raffle. Food will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will go toward the youth group’s trip to the youth gathering in New Orleans this year.

Experience a Civil War re-enactment and encampment, to be held 9 a.m.-7 p.m. April 27 and 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. April 28 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St.
