Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie will hold a free community meal 4-5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. A takeout option also will be available. The meal will include a chicken patty, tater tots, green beans, roll and butter and dessert.

Second Harvest Food Bank will host its Empty Bowls fundraiser 6-10 p.m. at the organization’s warehouse, 6969 Silvercrest Road, Nazareth. There is a cost for tickets. The evening will include music performances and an auction. The menu will feature produce grown at The Seed Farm located in Upper Milford Township. The Emmaus Historical Society’s program will be held 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus. The program is titled: “History of Jefferson School, Part 1” and will be presented by Jim Schwar. The program is free to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program.

April 18

Lehigh Valley Health Network will offer the free virtual session “Empowered Relief Training for Patients” for those living with chronic pain 6-8 p.m. Participants will develop a personal plan for pain relief. The course is open to those 18 years and older. Attendees will be emailed a link to the virtual class including instructions on logging into the class. The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host the 24th annual Spring Used Book Sale at the library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. A ‘Friends-Only’ preview night is scheduled 6-8 p.m. April 19. ‘Friends’ memberships will be available at the door for a fee. The public sale is scheduled 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 with the popular ‘Brown Bag Blowout’ set for 2-3 p.m. Shoppers fill a brown paper or other recyclable grocery bag with as many books at they can for a small fee. Cash and checks will be accepted for purchases. In addition to books, items for sale traditionally include puzzles, DVDs and CDs. Proceeds benefit the Emmaus Public Library. Emmaus Lioness Lions 26th annual creative basket party at St. John’s UCC, 139 N. Fourth St., Emmaus, 4-7 p.m. April 19 and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 20. Second annual STEAM Night at The Hillside School, 2697 Brookside Road, Macungie, 5:30-6:30 p.m. The event highlights students’ projects across science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics disciplines.

Wildlands Conservancy will host a daytime camp out 10 a.m. to noon at Trexler Nature Preserve, 4935 Orchard Road, Schnecksville. Participants will learn how to pitch a tent, start a campfire and other basic skills needed to survive a night outdoors. The event is free, however, space is limited and registration is required. The Seed Farm will host its annual spring plant sale at the farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12. The sale features a wide variety of plants, including vegetable, herb and flower plants grown at the farm without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

The Macungie Farmers Market opens for the season 4-7 p.m. The market is located along Lumber Street, just off Main Street, in Macungie borough.

June 2

Kiwanis Club of Emmaus’ 49th annual Pancake and Sausage Festival 8 a.m. to noon at the Emmaus Fire Co. #1, Sixth and Broad streets, Emmaus.
