Sunshine and chilly spring air set the stage as children scrambled and smiled their way through Danny Rice Field searching for treasures March 30 at the City of Bethlehem Easter egg hunt.
Children were quick to spring into action in search of eggs and candy that were placed around the field at the intersection of Main, Spring and Lehigh streets. Kids were asked to bring their own baskets to the event, which was open to all children residing in the city.
The City of Bethlehem Recreation Bureau sponsored the egg-citing event on the Saturday morning before Easter.
Daniel J. Rice, for whome the field was named, was a Vietnam veteran who joined the Bethlehem Police in April 1971, was a 26-year veteran of the Bethlehem police force when he was killed in a car accident while on duty.
