New board members to represent 5th ward welcomed
The Recreation Advisory Committee for Salisbury Township met March 18 to welcome new board member Kyle Moye who will serve the committee as a representative from the 5th ward.
Mark Wilson was elected chairman, Pat Jacoby was elected vice chairman and Tammy Campbell will serve the committee as secretary.
The committee continues to seek a representative from the 1st ward to fill the remaining vacant seat.
Salisbury Recreation Director Genny Baillie reports thoughtful planning continues as township commissioners work on the master plan for Laubach Park and Franko Farm Park.
Underground drainage issues at Laubach have been corrected and improvements are being considered for the parking area, pickleball courts and pavilion.
Director of Public works Jim Levernier and his crew have been hard at work keeping ball fields in all the parks in shape for the upcoming season of play.
The township held a successful egg hunt at Lindberg Park March 16.
Mild temperatures prevailed and 130 children, baskets in hand, scrambled across the grounds collecting eggs in record time. Many families remained at the park to enjoy all the playground has to offer.
In other news, the committee continues to plan for the many upcoming events throughout the township.
IronPigs tickets will soon be available at the municipal building for a June 18 community event and plans for a Sept. 14 concert at Franko Farm Park featuring the cover band AM Radio are also being finalized. A food truck has also been secured to be present at the event.
Christmas may be nine months away but the tree lighting ceremony at Franko Farm Park is top of mind for committee members. Long range plans are currently being made to plan a successful event as the committee seeks community involvement for the Dec. 6 event.
The next meeting of the recreation advisory committee will be 7:30 p.m. May 20 at the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave. The meetings are open to the public.
