Earth Day cleanups will keep volunteers busy in Lower and Upper Milford

Lower and Upper Milford townships will participate in Earth Day efforts by hosting cleanups April 20.
Lower Milford Township’s Spring Clean Up Day is scheduled 8 a.m. to noon April 20.
The cleanup day finale is a lunch for volunteers at the township building, 7606 Chestnut Hill Road.
Safety vests, gloves, trash bags and bottled water will be provided for the cleanup.

Upper Milford Township and Emmaus borough will join forces in an Earth Day cleanup 8:30 a.m. to noon April 20. Volunteers will meet at Emmaus Community Park in Emmaus borough for assignments and supplies.
Past efforts have included clearing litter, leaves and branches from parks and historic sites as well as on the grounds of the Emmaus Public Library.
Electronics recycling and shredding services will be offered for Upper Milford Township and Emmaus borough residents 9 to 11 a.m. at Emmaus Community Park, Shimerville Road.

The Upper Milford Historical Society will host an open house 1-4 p.m. April 21 at the township building. Later that week, Edward Johnson is scheduled to present the program “The Great Philadelphia Wagon Road” 7 p.m. April 25 at the society’s monthly meeting at the township building.
The Southern Lehigh Library, the home library of Lower Milford Township residents, invites photographers 16 and older to participate in the annual photography show at the library April 29 to June 28. For details, visit the front desk at the library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley.
The Seed Farm, Upper Milford Township, welcomes volunteers to help prepare for the spring plant sale May 11 and May 12.
Volunteers are needed to help with seeding, potting, organizing and labeling plants in the greenhouse 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through May 9.
Volunteers also may choose to help with tasks such as parking, restocking and customer service during the sale.

Summer hours continue through Nov. 30 at the Upper Milford Yard Waste Facility. The site is behind the municipal garage. The entrance to the site is located along Church View Road, approximately 350 feet from the intersection with Kings Highway South.
Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and Mondays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m./dusk Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to noon Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The site is closed Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Lower Milford board of supervisors will meet 6:30 p.m. April 18 at the Lower Milford Township municipal building, 7606 Chestnut Hill Road.
The Upper Milford board of supervisors will meet 7 p.m. April 4 and April 18 at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St.
