LHS girls look to improve
Liberty’s girls’ lacrosse team didn’t enjoy much success last season, but they hope that will change this spring.
The Hurricanes finished 4-13 a year ago, but second-year head coach Samantha Weinert has a feeling that better things will come for the 2024 roster.
“We’re a young team looking to improve our record from last year,” said Weinert. “We were off to a great start with two scrimmage wins in preseason. This team is athletic, hardworking and coachable. I look forward to seeing what this group of young ladies can do. Last year was not a good representation of what this team can do. We lost a few good seniors, but have been working hard in the off season to prepare for the season.”
Returning players for the ‘Canes include seniors Marren Broesicke (attack), Sophia Csatari (midfield) and Emma Crosson (defense).
A talented sophomore group will get plenty of action with Ellis Corr (midfield), Erika Broesicke (goalie), Abigail Mayes (defense) and Julianna Zumas (midfield) in the fold.
Freshmen newcomers are Lily Medaska (attack), Olivia Romero (attack) and Christina Bozakis (midfield).
“We’re looking to improve our record from last year,” said Weinert, “and have more contributors to the game with goal scorers, more assists, more players winning the draw.”
Liberty opened the season this week against Saucon Valley on Tuesday.
