Egypt/Cementon: Church plans holiday services

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, has Lenten and Easter services scheduled.

Maundy Thursday events will include a covered dish meal 6 p.m. and a communion service 7 p.m. March 28.

A Good Friday Tenebrae service is planned for 7 p.m. March 29.

Easter Sunday services will be held 7 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. March 31.

Reminder: Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, is planning a number of events.

Thursday entertainment starts with dinner 6 p.m. Music will begin 7 p.m. The music schedule will include John Cannavo Solo March 28, a Gig Diggers open jam April 4 and Mike Sherer April 11.

Also, there will be a trivia and bingo night, set for 7 p.m. March 29.

Other upcoming performances will include Ricky Smith and the Crush 7 p.m. March 30, Whiskey Mansion 7 p.m. April 5, Castaway Band 7 p.m. April 6 and Jimmy Leahey of Styx 6 p.m. April 12.

Members attend for free, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.

Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Egypt, will hold its annual Easter egg hunt, for parishioners ages 12 and under, 10 a.m. March 30.

In addition, the church’s Easter Sunday Masses are set for 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. March 31.

The Easter egg hunt at Egypt Memorial Park will be March 30. This event, available only to park members, is for children ages 10 and under. Registration starts noon, and the egg hunt begins 1 p.m. Photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny will be available after the hunt.

RSVP for the event via the Google form on the park’s Facebook page.

Donations of candy or filled eggs will be accepted 5-7 p.m. March 28 at the snack stand.

Whitehall Mennonite Church, 4138 Wilson St., Egypt, will hold an Easter brunch 9 a.m., followed by an egg hunt 9:45 a.m. and a worship service 10:15 a.m., all March 31. All are welcome.

Egypt Memorial Park’s spring softball and baseball registration is open through April 1 for ages 5-14. Players do not have to live in Whitehall.

Go to egyptpark.org and set up a profile to view available programs and register. There is a cost.

Open practices will be held March 28 and 31 for those who want to try the sport and meet the players and coaches. Waivers are required for nonmembers.

Castaway Band will perform 7-11 p.m. April 5 at Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon. The kitchen will be open.

There is a cost.

Egypt Community Church will host an eat-in or takeout ham dinner 4-6:30 p.m. April 13 in the social hall, 4128 Bridge St. The dinner consists of ham, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, bread with butter, dessert and a beverage.

All proceeds benefit church missions.

Angel Resource Ministries has scheduled a semiannual new children’s clothing sale for 4-6:30 p.m. April 13 and 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 14 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Church will hold a penny party April 21. Doors open 11:30 a.m., and the games begin 12:30 p.m.

The group will offer many items for bid, as well as a raffle. Food will be available for purchase.

Proceeds will go toward the youth group’s trip to the youth gathering in New Orleans this year.
