William Lagler Jr.

William Lagler Jr., 85, of Zionsville, died March 21, 2024, in the home he built, surrounded by three generations of his loving family. He was the husband of Carolyn F. (Clauser) Lagler for 65 years. Born in Zionsville, he was the son of the late William “Fritz” and Anna M. (Zentner) Lagler.

He earned an associate degree in drafting and design from Penn State University.

He worked in sales and engineering for many years, retiring in 2006 from A & A Company, South Plainfield, N.J.

He was an active member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, serving in various roles including the building and grounds committee and as the president of consistory.

In his younger years, he was active with Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, serving as recording secretary, first vice president, assistant chief, financial secretary and trustee. He was a member and treasurer of Hivel und Dahl Preservation Society, member of Upper Milford Historical Society and past treasurer of the East Central Pennsylvania Two Cylinder Tractor Club.

He is survived by his wife; children, Carolee and her husband, David Fegley, William B. and his wife, Cheryl, Russell and his wife, Pamela, James and his wife, Irene, Elizabeth and her husband, Randy Schmeltzle, Rebecca Townsend, Jonathan and his wife, Dana, Jennifer Swartzwelder; grandchildren, Elliott Fegley (Kelly), Zachary Fegley (Megan), Taylor, Jarrett (Mattie), Russell (Jennifer), Laura Frederick (Matthew), Nathan, Cody Schmeltzle (Paige), Austin Schmeltzle, Gabriel Schmeltzle (Morgan), Caleb Schmeltzle (Tara), Ethan Schmeltzle, Anneliese Schmeltzle, Cree Townsend, Finn Swartzwelder, Leo Swartzwelder; 11 great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the church or to the Allentown Rescue Mission, 355 Hamilton St., Allentown, 18101.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. March 29, in Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown. Viewing 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 28 and 10 to 11 a.m. March 29 in the church.
