One of the Bethlehem Area Public Library’s more popular kids’ programs had Bethlehem Police Officers Rodriguez and Landis visiting youth services for Leap Day story time Feb. 29. The 16 and 5-year veterans are normally assigned to work on the Southside, but said they also have duties on the Northside of Bethlehem. “My favorite part is the community policing part like this,” said Rodriguez to the parents and kids in attendance.
After handing out police stickers to each of the children, Rodriguez asked the kids to pick a book, and they chose “Polar Bear’s Underwear” to start things off.
Youth services librarian Julia Brennan said police story time is a very popular event and is held 10 to 15 times a year. Information on future events is available at bapl.org where people can sign up for program and activity alerts.
