A request by the Vera Cruz Fire Company for a reinvestment of capital funds was approved by the Upper Milford Township Supervisors at the March 7 meeting.
The investment of $300,000 is maturing March 17. The interest earned will be $12,389.51. All the monies are to be reinvested.
Joe Sherman took the opportunity to inform everyone he no longer has any role in the Vera Cruz Fire Company but would continue to remain active within the community and attend supervisor meetings, both as a resident and taxpayer.
The Behnke Preservation, which is protected farmland in the township, covers an area of 20.27 acres of land, 1.94 of which is in Upper Milford.
Lehigh County recently surveyed the land, assessing the value at $6,820 per acre.
The county is requesting $1,590.84 from Upper Milford to cover it’s portion of the property.
Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of the month, immediately following the workshop meeting 7 p.m. at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville.
