Cleo C. Silfies, 96, of Cherryville, died March 8, 2024. He was the husband of the late Rose T. (Wechsler) Silfies.
Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Calvin G. and Mable C. (Borger) Silfies.
He was a Northampton High School graduate.
He served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was last employed as a lab technician for the former Dragon Cement Company/Martin- Marietta Cement Company, Northampton, for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Earlier, he worked for the former Dieter’s Foundry, Cherryville, as a laborer for a few years.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen G. and husband Walter Gursky II of Walnutport and Bernadette K. of Cherryville; a son, Jeffrey D. of Lehighton; a sister, Verna Biege of Walnutport; two grandchildren, Walter Gursky III and wife Laura of Warrington and Kristine Gursky of Houston, Texas; and two great-granddaughters, Cameron and Kayla.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Russell and Herman.
Arrangements were made by Schisler Funeral Home, Northampton.
