Sonja Kustafik, 62, from Schnecksville, died on March 5, 2024, in her home.
Born May 3, 1961, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Wanda (Benthien) Horbowyj.
She earned a Master of Education degree and graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.
She was a physical education teacher at Trexler Middle School and South Mountain Middle School for more than 20 years.
As a committed teacher and coach, she cared deeply for her students and players.
She imparted knowledge, but instilled values, character and life lessons.
She dedicated her life to the betterment and encouragement of youth and to all those around her.
Her generous and devoted nature left an indelible mark on everyone’s hearts.
The impact she had on our lives is immeasurable and we are forever grateful.
Her legacy will live on in everyone she touched.
Her survivors include a sister Patricia A. Dwinell and her husband, George, of Palmerton; brother Peter Horbowyj and his wife, Janet, of Coplay; life partner, David W. Wirth, with whom she resided; stepchild Tracy L. Wirth of Round Hill, Va.; and step-grandchildren Austie, Colbie and Crosby.
She was predeceased by sister, Mary Romig.
A visitation period will be 5-7 p.m. March 15 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
