“Queen Bees and Wannabees” buzz to the stage with “Mean Girls: High School Edition,” 7 p.m. March 21, 22, 23; 2 p.m. March 24, auditorium, Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall.
Director Cara Craft is assisted by Choreographer Missy Zimmer and Assistant Directors Elaine Ramirez and Kendra Saunders.
With book by Tina Fey, lyrics by Nell Benjamin, and music by Jeff Richmond, the musical is based on the 2004 Mark Waters’ film of the same title written by Fey and based on the 2002 book, “Queen Bees and Wannabes,” by Rosalind Wiseman.
This comedic take on the social dynamics of high school cliques centers around homeschooled teenager Cady Heron when she transfers to a public school.
The musical opened on Broadway in 2018 and received 12 Tony Award nominations.
Songs include “It Roars,” “Where Do You Belong,” “Meet the Plastics,” “Rather Be Me” and “I See Stars.”
