“Oppenheimer” blew up the Oscars, winning a lucky seven of 13 Oscar nominations.
“Oppenheimer” won Picture, Editing, Director (Christopher Nolan), Actor (Cillian Murphy), Original Score, Cinematography and Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.).
“Poor Things,” with 11 Oscar nominations, won four Oscars: Actress (Emma Stone), Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling.
“The Holdovers,” with five Oscar nominations, won Supporting Actress (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
“Barbie,” with eight Oscar nominations, won Original Song (“What Was I Made For”).
“The Boy and the Heron” won the Animated Feature Film Oscar.
In the seven Oscar categories for the Lehigh Valley Press Focus “Readers Pick the Oscar Winners Contest,” none of the entrants correctly picked all seven winners.
Several correctly picked six of the seven contest Oscar categories. None picked the seven winners.
Michelle Koch of Northampton is the contest winner as the earliest entrant for correctly choosing six of the seven Oscar winners, with the exception of “The Boy and the Heron.”
I correctly chose six of seven contest categories, the exception being Actress, for which I incorrectly picked Lily Gladstone for “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
“Killers Of The Flower Moon” received 10 Oscar nominations and won none.
“Maestro” received seven Oscar nominations and won none.
“The Zone Of Interest,” with five Oscar nominations, won for International Feature Film and Sound.
“American Fiction,” with five Oscar nominations, won Adapted Screenplay.
“Anatomy Of A Fall,” with five Oscar nominations, won Original Screenplay.
“The Boy and the Heron” won Animated Feature Film Oscar.
“20 Days in Mariupol,” about the War in Ukraine, won Documentary Feature Film Oscar.
Thank you to those who entered the contest and for reading the Press newspapers and the Focus section.
See you at the movies.
