Saul H. Coplan, 91, of Northampton, died Feb. 14, 2024, in his home. He was the husband of JoAnne (Filipovits) Coplan for 36 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Louis J. and Ida (Honigman) Coplan.
He was an independent sales representative in the furniture industry.
He discovered Socrates Cafe, a gathering of people from different backgrounds exchanging philosophical perspectives. He introduced this forum to Allentown Public Library, where participants meet twice a month. He discovered Take Stock in Children of Florida and became a mentor, working with students at Booker High School, Sarasota, Fla.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stanley and wife Jan Schleiger and Todd Csencsits and wife Jennifer; a daughter, Sheryl and husband Bill Bullitt; 10 grandchildren, Olivia Green, Simon, Eva Pasquarello, Julia Williams, Chelsea Csencsits, Tyler Csencsits, Trevor Csencsits, Sydney Justice, Shane Justice and Na’Quan Bush; five great-grandchildren, Charli Smith, Talon Csencsits, Andi Smith, James Pasquarello and Austin; a brother, Mark of Boca Raton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, LisaJo Csencsits.
A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
