Egypt/Cementon: Egypt VFW plans St. Patrick’s Day weekend musical events

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend at Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road.

Musical entertainment includes a blues jam 6-10 p.m. March 14, Uncle Smiley 7-10 p.m. March 15, Vinyl Persuasion 7-10 p.m. March 16 and a St. Patrick’s Day jam with John Cannavo 3-6 p.m. March 17.

The Post will also host a Gig Diggers open mic 6 p.m. March 21 and then John Cannavo Solo 7 p.m. March 28.

Other upcoming performances at the club will include Lou Franco Project 7 p.m. March 22, the James Supra Quartet 7 p.m. March 23 and Ricky Smith and the Crush 7 p.m. March 30.

Members attend for free, but there is a cost for guests and nonmembers.

Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane, will hold a country line dance 6-8 p.m. March 20. There is a cost.

The Whitehall-Coplay American Legion baseball team invites boys born in 2005-09, who will not turn 20 in 2024, to register for the team’s 2024 season. The team’s territory encompasses Whitehall, Coplay and part of Catasauqua.

Sign-ups are set for 6-8 p.m. March 20 and noon-2 p.m. March 23 at Coplay Field House, 666 Potter Terrace. Bring your birth certificate or a copy of your driver’s license or your American Legion card. There is a cost.

Tryouts, if needed, are tentatively scheduled for March 23.

The free spring historical walk along the Ironton Rail Trail is set for 9 a.m. March 23. The 7-mile walk will start at the Whitehall Parkway barn, 4041 Chestnut St.

Enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, 8-11:30 a.m. March 24. Feast on scrambled eggs, western scrambled cheesy eggs, sausage, scrapple, corn beef hash, sausage biscuits and gravy, French toast, hash browns, chocolate milk, apple juice, orange juice and coffee.

There is a cost.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, has Lenten and Easter services scheduled.

Midweek Lenten services continue 7 p.m. March 20.

Maundy Thursday events will include a covered dish meal 6 p.m. and then a communion service 7 p.m. March 28.

A Good Friday Tenebrae service is planned for 7 p.m. March 29.

Easter Sunday services will be held 7 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. March 31.

The Easter egg hunt at Egypt Memorial Park will be March 30. This event, available only to park members, is for children age 10 and under. Registration starts noon, and the egg hunt begins 1 p.m.

RSVP for the event via the Google form on the park’s Facebook page.

Donations of candy or filled eggs will be accepted 6-8 p.m. March 20 and 5-7 p.m. March 28 at the snack stand.

Photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny will be available after the hunt.

Whitehall Mennonite Church, 4138 Wilson St., Egypt, will hold an Easter brunch 9 a.m., followed by an Easter egg hunt 9:45 a.m. and worship service 10:15 a.m., all March 31. All are welcome.

Easter Sunday Masses at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Egypt, will be held 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. March 31.

The church’s annual Easter egg hunt for parishioners ages 12 and under is set for 10 a.m. March 30. Church members are asked to sign up their children at the church by March 17.

Egypt Memorial Park’s 2024 spring softball and baseball registration is open for ages 5-14 through April 1. Players do not have to live in Whitehall.

Go to egyptpark.org and set up a profile to view available programs and register. There is a cost.

Open practices will be held March 28 and 31 for those who want to try the sport and meet the players and coaches. Waivers are required for nonmembers.

Egypt Community Church will host an eat-in or takeout ham dinner 4-6:30 p.m. April 13 in the social hall, 4128 Bridge St. The dinner consists of ham, mashed potatoes, vegetable, bread, butter, dessert and beverage.

All proceeds benefit church missions.
