Spring Fling at Macungie Institute March 22

The Friends of the Macungie Institute will host an afternoon of bingo 1 p.m. April 7 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be cash prizes, food and raffles. Doors open noon. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Macungie Institute. For more information, call 610-966-7830.
The Macungie Institute will continue to offer free weekly Pinochle and Mahjong Wednesdays in 2024. Pinochle is 10 a.m. to noon and Mahjong is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Zumba with Rashida is offered 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and 2-3 p.m. Tuesdays.
Macungie Town Beautification will present a Spring Fling 5-7 p.m. March 22 at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St. There will be a bake sale, flower sale, kids crafts, food and a visit by the Easter bunny.

The Alburtis Seniors will meet noon March 20 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis. There will be a potluck buffet lunch followed by a meeting and bingo. There is a small charge. Bring a covered dish. For more information, call Doris at 610-966-3653.

The Ancient Oak Women’s Organization will hold its next meeting 7 p.m. March 6 at St. Paul’s UCC in Trexlertown. There will be a presentation by Gary Schall of AARP on downsizing and decluttering. Refreshments will be served.
A Lehigh Valley Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Show is planned March 9 and 10 at Macungie Memorial Park.
There will a Jump Into Spring Vendor & Craft Fair 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 23 at Macungie Memorial Park. There will be food, beverages, games, vendors and crafters.
Food Trucks in the Park will be held 4-8 p.m. April 10 at Macungie Memorial Park.
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., will offer its free community meal 4-5:30 p.m. March 8. This will be a drive-up takeout only meal.
Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly free food distribution 2-4 p.m. March 6, 13, 20 and 27 for East Penn School District residents. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

Macungie Borough Council has in-person public meetings at the Macungie Institute. The next meetings will be 7:30 p.m. March 18 and April 1.

The Macungie Park Board of Directors meeting is 7 p.m. March 12 in the downstairs of Macungie Memorial Hall.
I recently placed a for sale ad for Legos in Facebook Marketplace. Not long after, I received a message: “Are these still available?” I replied “Yes.”
The follow-up left me laughing: “I’m sorry. My son got a hold of my phone.”
