The PIAA wrestling tournament takes place this Thursday at the Giant Center in Hershey and runs through Saturday evening in a new format this year.

For the first time, the girls wrestling tournament will run simultaneously along 3A and 2A with all three championships taking place simultaneously Saturday afternoon.

Thursday’s schedule starts with 2A preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. with first round consolations slated for 12:45 p.m. The girls tournament then kicks off at 2 p.m. with their first round followed by 3A coming onto the mats at 4 p.m. for the preliminaries and first round consolations at 7:45 p.m.

Friday’s schedule begins at 8 a.m. with the 2A quarterfinals, followed by the second and third round consolations. The girls then come on at 11:45 a.m. with their quarters and first and second round consys. The 3A tournament rounds out the afternoon with quarters at 2:15 p.m. with second round consolations, followed by third round consys at 4:45 p.m.

Friday’s marathon day for the tournament continues deep into the night, as semifinals across all three classes take place at 7 p.m. Consolations rounds for each class then end the night at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s slate is another full day session of each class competing at the same time, as the 9:30 a.m. consolation rounds features 3A, 2A and the girls tournament. The consolation medal rounds then start in the morning for the first time, as the third, fifth and seventh place medal matches for all classes are set for 11:30 a.m.

Championship finals for all three classes will start at 4 p.m. on three mats.
