Ready for bingo!
An energetic group of attendees filled the social hall of Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., March 2 to play bingo. The event was a fundraiser for Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association.
CYAA, 890 Walnut St., recently installed Charles Mulicka as president and basketball director. He said he was impressed with the turnout, including the fun had by attendees.
Mulicka and Dessa Winch staffed the entrance table and played bingo along with the attendees. The bingo caller, with the healthy appearance of a middle linebacker, was Adam Landis, CYAA football director, of North Catasauqua.
Jaylynn Garcia, Angel Santana, CYAA secretary Jen Quintero, Jarrett Shaffer, Omar Galluzzo and Heather Reed staffed a busy kitchen, cooking and delivering food to the bingo players. Anne Marie Macchia, Legion bar area manager, served adult beverages to attendees.
Excited bingo winners happily yelled out “Bingo!” as they won. Jessica Beatty, of Catasauqua, was smiling ear to ear when she received her prize. Ginger Clark, of Allentown, let out a hoot when she got her prize. Both said they enjoyed their time at the event with their friends.
The event also had a large basket raffle.
Mulicka said CYAA is growing, as more families are enrolling their children in sports programs. He expects a successful sports season this year. To see all that’s offered, visit the CYAA Facebook page.
It was clear much thought and planning occurred for this successful event. Shayla Morgan, CYAA fundraising coordinator, was the principal organizer of the bingo. Although she was unable to attend the event, Mulicka said the team executed her well-organized plan.
Larry Rothrock, first vice commander of the Legion, was on hand to support the effort. He said the Legion is trying to expand its efforts to have a diverse number of activities at the Post and increase its membership to both veterans and home association social members.
