Iva M. Gingrich, 93, of Allentown, died March 2, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. She was the loving wife of the late Carl C. Gingrich Jr. with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Nevin J. and Ethel F. (Merkel) Swavely.
She graduated from Allen High School and earned an associate degree from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at St. Luke’s, Bethlehem.
She was an active member of Emmaus Moravian Church, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts leader, volunteer at Emmaus Public Library for over 30 years, Emmaus Women’s Club - past president, active member of Lehigh Valley Couturiere Society and a volunteer at East Penn School District.
She was involved with various bridge clubs and started a Rummikub Club at Luther Crest. She was part of the Luther Crest knitting club.
She is survived by children, Cheryl Ferrich, Gilbert and his wife, Cathy, Janet Morkowchuk and her husband Walter; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Swavely; sister, Rubie Cox.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Emmaus Moravian Church, 148 Main St., Emmaus, 18049 for the maintenance of the historical buildings.
A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. March 8 in Emmaus Moravian Cemetery, 111 Keystone Ave., Emmaus, 18049. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
