Eugene E. Koncz, a resident of Sacred Heart Living and formerly of North Catasauqua, died Feb. 27, 2024. He was the husband of the late Jeanette S. (Moravek) Koncz.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late James and Vilma (Nemeth) Koncz.

He was a 1951 Allentown Central Catholic High School graduate. He earned a degree in economics from Villanova University in 1955.

He was in the U.S. Army quartermaster, transportation and engineer corps from 1955 to 1958 in the United States, England and Germany.

He was an office manager and secretary-treasurer for Quality Oil Service Company/Topper Petroleum Company, from which he retired in 1995.

He was a member of St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church, North Catasauqua. He was a liturgy committee member, catechist, Eucharistic minister and lector. He worked with the church cleaning crew and the pierogi makers.

He was a former president of the advisory board of Good Shepherd School, formerly Our Lady of Hungary, Northampton. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and went on retreats with the Men of Malvern. He was a former board member, treasurer and member of Northampton Rotary Club. He was a former board member and past president of Suburban North Family YMCA.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth and wife Andrea of Whitehall and Lynn James and wife Valerie of Northampton; a grandson, Matthew and wife Meredith; a granddaughter, Lauren and husband Joel Maynard; and four great-grandsons, Theodore, Henry, McGrady Eugene Maynard and Kennett Maynard.
