The soccer scholar athlete banquet recently took place with Northampton’s Jackson Vajda and Jim Thorpe’s Sarah Hartman selected as the winners.

Below are the bios for the nominated players from Bethlehem Catholic, Liberty and Freedom high schools.

Bethlehem Catholic

Jeremy Robert Fyrer

Fyrer was a goalkeeper for the Hawks.

Athletic Achievements: MaxPreps Athlete of the Week, All-Area Honorable Mention.

Youth Experience: Keystone Athletic Association, BTAA Bulldogs.

Extracurricular: Student Body President, Movement Co-Leader, Scholastic Scrimmage captain, two-year soccer captain, Key Club vice president, NHS Treasurer.

Academic Achievements: Top Scholar, Zappa Math Award, Bishop’s Scholar, PJAS First Award in States.

AP Classes: Biology, English Language, Government and Politics, Physics, Calc BC, Statistics, English Literature.

Fyrer is the son of Robert and Carrie Fyrer and plans to major in biology/pre-med.

Freedom

Corey James

James was a forward and midfielder for the Pates.

Athletic Achievements: MVP 2023, varsity all four years, 1st Team All-EPCFHS.

Youth Experience: club/youth soccer since age four, FC Delco NAL team.

Extracurricular: Boys soccer car wash, ArtsQuest volunteered at Musikfest, National Honors Society bake sale, Bethlehem Soccer Club volunteer assistant soccer coach, Wesley Church BackPack for Kids Festival, cleans up litter in neighborhood parks and soccer fields.

Academic Achievements: National Honor Society, straight As, honor roll.

James is the son of Ellis and Nicole James and plans to major in sports management.

Liberty

Tanner Horvath

Horvath was a defender on the Hurricanes.

Athletic Achievements: All-EPC 2nd team three years. All-EPC first team and all-area 2nd team one year.

Youth Experience: Bethlehem Soccer Club, HEX FC and national tournaments.

Extracurricular: Musikfest volunteer, coaching at Bethlehem Soccer Club and Bastidas soccer camps.

Academic Achievement: National Honors Society and honor roll, dual enrollment at NCC.

AP Classes: Physics, US government and politics, and world history.

Horvath is the son of Wendy and William Horvath and plans to major in civil engineering.

GIRLS

Bethlehem Catholic

Gabriela Mutis

Mutis was a forward for the Hurricanes.

Youth Experience: FC Pocono, Keystone Athletics, Matchfit Academy, Penn Fusion Lehigh Valley and Western Lehigh.

Extracurricular: Peer Listening, Cops & Kids Officer.

Academic Achievements: Top Scholar, National Honor Society.

AP Classes: Biology, English language and composition, literature and composition and US history.

Mutis is the daughter of Claudia O’Connell and Jorge Mutis and plans to major in biology.

Freedom

Gabriella Nicole Gomez-Guerra

Gomez-Guerra was a defender on the Pates.

Athletic Achievements: Captain, Most Improved Player Award.

Youth Experience: LVU

Extracurricular: Class of 2024 Secretary, FEAT club member.

Academic Achievements: Heroic Lifeguard Award, “Sobrieviente” Award, National Honors Society.

AP Classes: Spanish.

Gomez-Guerra is the daughter of Angie and Ramon Gomez and plans to major in marketing.

Liberty

Hannah Oliver

Oliver was a midfielder for the Hurricanes.

Athletic Achievements: captain.

Youth Experience: Keystone Athletic, Lower Macungie Youth Association.

Extracurricular: Camel Hump Farm, Hanover Fire Company, Camelot for Children.

Academic Achievement: honor roll.

AP Classes: World history, government and politics, psychology, calculus.

College Courses: English 1 and 2, intro to communication, psychology, management fundamentals, intro to sociology, microbiology, human A&P 1, intro to statistics, human biology, accounting 1, preparatory chemistry, intro to nutrition.

Oliver is the daughter of Jennifer Mireles and plans to major in nursing.
