Scholarship available
The Lehigh County Farm Bureau is offering a scholarship of $1,000 toward higher education or skill training to Lehigh County high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.
Selection Criteria
·The applicant must be a high school senior whose parent or guardian resides in Lehigh County.
·The applicant must plan to major or train in the field of agriculture or an agriculture-related field, at a trade, vocational or technical school or a two-year or four-year college or university on a full-time basis.
·Selection will be based on the applicant’s record of scholastic achievement and extracurricular activities without regard to race, sex, religion or financial need.
·The scholarship is nonrenewable.
·Application form must be accompanied by the applicant’s transcript showing grades.
·Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application.
High school guidance counselors, high school teachers and/or community leaders must write the recommendations.
·The application form must be accompanied by a copy of the school’s letter of acceptance.
·Selection of the recipient will be the responsibility of the Lehigh County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
If the applicant is related to a member of the board, that member must recuse him/herself from the evaluation process. If no applicant is viewed as qualified, no award will be made.
·Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Procedures
Scholarship applications and accompanying documents must be received on or before April 15 or they will not be considered.
Personal interviews may be conducted at the board’s discretion.
